Speaking of prep-school hippies, this version of “Reelin’ in the Years,” from a 1973 episode of Burt Sugarman’s The Midnight Special, is a little tighter (and has better sound quality) than the other, old, more well known ‘78 “Reelin’,” from The Old Grey Whistle Test. Plus, you know, The Cos’s completely randar introduction, avec ‘stache & ‘gar, which, while welcome (this morning?!), isn’t nearly as sweet as roadie Jerome Aniton’s nitty-gritty ramble from Santa Monica in ‘74.
