Duff, 21, has been busy filming her latest movie, Stay Cool, in Santa Clarita. The Duffster portrays Shasta O'Neil, a sexy high school senior who flirts with the author Mark Polish (Henry McCarthy) and invites him to the prom. Winona Ryder costars as one of Polish’s old flames.

The Jonas Brothers join host Pete Wentz during the live taping of MTV’s FNMTV on Friday at Hollywood’s Ren Mar Studios.

Kevin, 20, Joe, 18, and Nick, 15, announced that they will be debuting the second single from their new album, A Little Bit Longer, during the MTV Video Music Awards. The 2008 VMAs will air live from Paramount Studios in Los Angeles and one-time only in its original format on Sunday, September 7, 2008 @ 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT).

“It’s going to be an exciting performance,” says Nick. “We’re going to involve the fans in it.”

Also announced during FNMTV: Joe graduated high school. Congrats!

“A big congratulations to Joe,” older brother Kevin said. “He just graduated from high school. It happened yesterday so it’s a big deal.” (more…)

Katie Holmes continues to film her guest spot with regular Jonny Lee Miller for his hit ABC show, Eli Stone, in downtown Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

“There's actually some singing and dancing she does and she's exquisite,” ABC president Steve McPherson has said of Katie’s role in the show as a nonprofit attorney.

Victor Garber, who plays the head of the legal firm Miller's character, added, "She's delightful. We just did the read through the other day and she just fit in beautifully and was so unassuming. She's perfect for this part. It's a great thing for Jonny and Katie together in this episode. It's magical."

Katie’s cameo will appear in the Oct. 21 episode of the legal dramedy.

CHUCK: Guest star Nicole Richie–yes, that’s her–guns for her old high school nemesis Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski, not pictured), Chuck’s CIA gal pal, on an October episode of the NBC spy series.

“She was a cheerleader,” says Nicole of her character, Heather. “Kind of that b—-y mean girl.”

Looks like old habits die hard.

“I had a stunt double,” added Nicole on her action-packed role as a girl girl on NBC’s Chuck. “But they said I was allowed to do as much as I wanted–except for serious things.”

Claire Danes and British actor boyfriend Hugh Dancy continue working on their tan on Friday in Ischia, an Italian island in the bay of Naples. (Claire’s teeny weensy red bikini caused quite the stir earlier this week.)

Danes, 29, and Dancy, 33, are in town for the Ischia Global Film and Music Fest just like Terrence Howard, Rosario Dawson and her boyfriend Mathieu Schreyer.

The latest Batman flick, The Dark Knight, grossed an estimated $18.5 million so far, the most ever for midnight shows. The previous record was held by Star Wars, Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith, which grossed $16.9 million.

The highest single day opening record is currently held by Spider-man 3 which made $59.8 million. The Dark Knight made an estimated around $64 million in its first day.

Some box office experts are saying the Christopher Nolan-directed flick may reach $170 million this weekend. HOLY!

Pregnant actress Jennifer Garner keeps her baby bump covered after sharing a two-hour breakfast with former costar Gina Torres at Cheebo in Los Angeles on Friday morning.

Rachel Bilson strikes a pose in the latest ad campaign for her junior sportswear line, Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans.

"This is something that I have been interested in doing for such a long time," Rachel has said of the clothes she’s designed. "I was just waiting for the perfect opportunity for it to be done right. Fans of The O.C. really like DKNY Jeans, and I know they make great stuff, so I thought it could be good. I want people to see these clothes for what they are, not just another line designed by another celebrity. I want the line to be taken seriously.
